The primary challenge in this project was optimizing the performance of a shell and tube heat exchanger in a petrochemical plant while addressing potential fouling issues that could reduce efficiency. Ensuring effective heat transfer and maintaining energy efficiency required a comprehensive thermal analysis to evaluate critical parameters like flow rates, temperature profiles, and pressure drops. By utilizing HTRI software, I identified operational improvements that enhanced the heat exchanger's efficiency, minimized fouling risks, extended its operational lifespan, and reduced energy consumption, ensuring sustainable and reliable operations for the plant.
